KC-area fighter learns boxing is tough business as she waits for next bout

ROUND 1
This is a basement. It is in an ordinary-looking house on a street in Johnson County. There's a full-sized boxing ring. And there's a massage table. There are four championship boxing belts. And there's a mother hugging her son.
?Hands that bruise,? Sumya Anani says. ?And hands that heal.?"

Boxing News -- 24 hours/day - Reload often!: "Undefeated Melinda Cooper faces a tough challenge when she goes up against talented Jerri Sitzes in a six round Bantamweight bout.
Cooper, (9-0, 6 KO's) from Las Vegas, NV, will turn 19 next month, but her age has not stopped her from becoming an attraction to any fight card.
A swift fighter on her legs who can make her opponent miss and make her pay, Cooper has showed her talents well in the ring. She has won her last three bouts by knockout, including a first round knockout in July against Yvonne Chavez.
Sitzes, (5-2-1, 3 KO's) from Springfield, MO, is a talented fighter who is unbeaten in her last four bouts.
In her last bout on January 23rd, she knocked out once-beaten Mary Elizabeth Ortega in Kansas City, MO. The bout avenged a six round split-decision loss to Ortega last year.
The card will be televised on ESPN's 'Friday Night Fights' series
no word on weather Stitzes fight will be televised

STIEGLITZ GOES FOR SECOND JUNIOR TITLE
Read More Here: "That is something his opponent on February 21 in Aschersleben, Germany, can not claim so easily, because 22-year-old Galen Brown from St. Joseph, Missouri, has always fought at lightheavyweight so far. This, however, he did with success: Of his 13 fights since punching for pay, Brown won 10 (five via the short route), drawn once and already reversed his only loss, a close 4-round decision in only his sixth career outing. While therefore all the advantages seem to lay with the German, it can be safely assumed that Brown is, as the boxing parlance goes, coming to win. "

Osborn Olympic hopeful hits to hurt

CAMERON, Mo. — Step inside Travis Hartman’s gym and have a look for yourself. It’s not the prototypical training ground for an Olympic boxing hopeful.
It’s a ramshackle place, really – small and dark and dreary and cold. If you didn’t hear the muted thuds and the “Kid Rock” blaring from behind its rickety door, you’d swear the place was condemned. Or haunted.
