Missouri Southern to host championship boxing event

For at least a couple of hours on June 5, Joplin will be the center of the professional boxing universe.
Missouri Southern State University along with boxing promoter Tony Holden and the Joplin Sports Authority announced that the University's Leggett & Platt Athletic Center will host the IBF Junior Middleweight Championship match Saturday, June 5.
'This will be the largest sporting event we've had in our community and on (this campus),' Joplin Sports Authority director Mike Greninger said. 'I'm thankful Tony (Holden) hasn't forgotten his roots.Hopefully, we can look forward to sporting events of this magnitude down the road.'
The Junior Middleweight title fight will be between the top-ranked boxer, Kassim 'The Dream' Ouma and Verno Phillips, the second-ranked boxer in the classification.
Holden, who grew up in Miami, Okla. said MSSU's athletic facility is the perfect place for this boxing match.
'This event was a little to large for Miami,' Holden said. 'This is going to be the biggest boxing event in Missouri in the last 10 years - bigger than Kansas City and St. Louis. This is the perfect house for a show of this magnitude.'
The Phillips-Ouma showdown will be televised live on Showtime.
'The Showtime people flew in from New York to survey the building and they were impressed,' Holden said.
'This is number one and number two - it doesn't get any better,' Holden said.
Missouri Southern athletic director estimated that the capacity for the boxing match will be between 4,000 and 4,500.
The JSA and city officials are expecting the boxing event, which will be held at the same time as the Festival of the Four Sta"

Virus On the Increase
I have been getting a lot of emails that are potentionally viruses.
Thought it might be time to Warn you Again of the Dangers of Viruses. They are NASTY.
Never open an attachment on an email unless you know it is coming. A Virus can get into you address book so it seems like your friend is sending you a file. Don't Fall for it. If it ends in PIF it probally is a virus. But if you would really like to open it. Email your friend and ask if they sent the file, if they did it is probally safe.
Keep your Virus program updated. If you really wanted to be safe, get a Macintosh. Nobody writes viruses for them.
I know this has nothing to do with Boxing but if you get a virus you may not be able to Visit my site and I would miss you.
