On June 12th, 2005 The Million Dollar Lady of boxing Mia 'The Knockout' St. John (40-5-2 17KOs) will fight for the IFBA Lightweight Championship at The Okhay Casino-Resort in San Juan Pueblo, New Mexico. This is the same prestigious title Hillary Swank's character fought for in Million Dollar Baby. Meeting Ms. St. John for the title is Liz Drew (9-7 2KOs) from Troy, Missouri who has fought some of the best women in sport to get her shot.
'This is a great time for this fight to take place,' states Ms. St. John. 'The success of Million Dollar Baby has sparked fresh interest in female boxing and Ill be training hard to come into this title fight in the best shape of my life.'
St. John is arguably the best-conditioned fighter in the female ranks. She fought eleven times in 2004 and shows no signs of slowing down. To share some of the secrets that keep her in top shape, shell be releasing a workout DVD in June titled 'Million Dollar Workout.' This too is timely, as women across the country stream into health clubs to participate in boxing-style workouts.
Says St. John, 'Its no secret that boxing is one of the greatest workouts for toning muscles and reducing fat. I figured with all the interest in boxing workouts, who better to train these women than me. I live it every day!'
Liz Drew, 33 years old, has fought some of the best women in the sport today, including Mary Ortega, Kristy Follmer and Melissa Fiorentino among others. Salt Lake Tribune - Sports: "'Heavies' will rumble without sluggish Bowe

Rob Calloway (55-5-1) vs. Jim Strohl (27-3)
l Main event of a card beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Delta Center.

This time, the show will go on.
Postponed last month when former heavyweight champion Riddick Bowe backed out of a commitment to fight, a professional boxing card featuring respected heavyweight Rob Calloway will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Delta Center.
Calloway (55-5-1) will meet Jim Strohl (27-3) in the 12-round main event for the North American Boxing Council heavyweight title.
'This is an historic night of championship boxing,' said Edward Mendy of Lion Heart Boxing Productions.
He called the Calloway-Strohl bout 'a significant fight by any standard and we're excited to bring it to Salt Lake City.'
According to Mendy, the fight will be available 'around the world' via the Internet.
In April, Mendy planned to have Bowe headline the first-ever professional fight card at the Delta Center. But Bowe backed out so he could fight Billy Zumbrun on national television a few days later.
In only his second fight in eight years, Bowe ended up scoring an unpopular split decision over Zumbrun, who had the ex-champ in trouble when the bell ended the 10-round fight.
Bowe weighed-in at 280 pounds for the fight - 45 more than the night in 1992 when he beat Evander Holyfield for the world heavyweight title.
Bowe was so out of shape and his skills had diminished to the point where local boxing fans probably got the best of it when he decided to forgo his scheduled fight in Utah.
'In hindsight,' Mendy said, 'it was probably a blessing in disguise. . . . We're certainly not planni"
