Franchesca Alcanter Fights For The Missing
On March 31, 2006 pro female boxer Franchesca Alcanter, the ChildSeek Network and Athlete Representative on the National Board of Directors for USA Boxing Krysti Rosario will bring the faces of missing children to the ring.

Ashley disappeared from St. Joseph Missouri on July 6, 2004. Ashley's mother, Tammy Navinskey, dropped her and a younger brother off at Krug Pool. Later, when Tammy returned to pick up her children, only her son was waiting for her. Ashley was nowhere to be seen.
When a child goes missing it is important to keep their story and information in the public eye.
Franchesca being a public figure knows that she can assist in the search for missing children by lending her name and support in the effort to locate them.
It is our hope and hers that by doing so other pro boxers will join us and “Fight for the Missing”.
Franchesca, known as the "Chosen One" by her fans will meet with Ashley's parents. Buttons and fliers of Ashley will be handed out.
Franchesca is from Kansas City Missouri and has been fighting since 1999. Her uncles and grandfather were fighters so it is in her blood.
Franchesca worked as a model and at one time was Miss Hawaiian Tropic. She later became a round card girl which brought her to the ring. It was then she realized where she wanted to be and began working toward a career in boxing.
Krysti Rosario is the Athlete Representative on the National Board of Directors for USA Boxing.
The ChildSeek Network is a non-profit 501c (3) organization based in Oregon that assists families and law enforcement in the search to bring missing persons home.
ChildSeek Network fosters community involvement through education, events, and resources.

Boxing At The Plaza, Jefferson City, October 27, 2005
Boxing At The Plaza
October 27th, 2005
JEFFERSON CITY, MO – The Capitol Plaza Hotel in downtown Jefferson City played host to an onslaught of Professional Boxing this fine evening. With Fall in the air, and a crispness to the night outside, the 1000+ who showed up for ringside seating, and standing room only, were in for a 9 fight treat that saw everything from Professional debuts, to some of the toughest women fighters in all of Missouri. The inside showroom to the Plaza is big and beautiful. Accommodations and seating were some of the better I have seen for a local event. This evening was not to disappoint even the harshest of local boxing critics, and the hopes for more events at this venue is one that this writer is definitely game for!
The 9-bout evening started off exciting, and never quit from there. Early knockout victories going to Jefferson City locals Steve Buckner (3-0, 2KO’s) and Felipe Villegas (4-1, 2KO’s) got things started off. The only spoilers for the Jefferson City fans came from out of town fighters JeRay Cunningham, Susan Winter, and Brock Stodden. Cunningham and Stodden with respective victories by TKO over Preston Essex and Brad Ekstam, and a Draw between Winter and local talent Kristin Rambo.
The first 6 bouts prior to a brief intermission were all very exciting, but the most exciting match went to local New Bloomfield, MO Cruiserweight Ryan White. In the 5th bout of the evening – White matched his talent against Kansas City, MO product Payton Parks. Parks making his Professional debut did just about everything possible to villanize himself to the crowd. The fight only lasted 1 round, but in the beginning it seemed as though White might be in for a rough evening as Parks was wailing away with wide and often wild shots that for whatever reason – were hitting the mark. White waited until nearly the midpoint of the round (after a brisk taunting from Parks left nearly everyone in the Plaza begging White to knock his man out). White did not disappoint because 1 stiff straight right hand later – Parks was reeling to the other side of the ring, and the full capacity crowd stood up and cheered! It was the most electric moment to the first part of the evening. Parks – seeming dazed and confused – perhaps believing he was about to be given a standing 8 count – looked oddly at the crowd from within the ring. However a standing 8 was not to be given, and White unleashed a 2-punch combination that prompted Referee Mike England to step in and stop the bout at 2:36 in Round 1.
Gamal Collier wrapped the first half of the evening up with a 3-punch combination in the 1st round that left his opponent – Alvin Smith – lying flat on is back. Collier (a native of West Africa) was making his pro debut, and there is no better way to do that than with the quickest knockout of the evening (.19 seconds into the 1st round).
After the intermission things once again got underway with one of the toughest ladies in all of Missouri – Liz Drew (ranked 14th in the United States at Lightweight) who made good on her promise of an early knockout by absolutely destroying last minute replacement Jasmine Davis – at 1:03 of the 1st round. Drew now goes to 10-8 with 3KO’s while Davis now drops to 1-4.
After Stodden’s TKO upset over Ekstam stymied the crowd – it was time for the main event of the evening. Jesse Bryan coming off a disappointing defeat at the hand of Mike Woods this past September for the NAMA Light Heavyweight Championship was looking for a little redemption. It came in the name of Donnie Davis. Davis started out fast – clubbing Bryan to a point that the crowd became concerned over Bryan’s would-be inactivity. Bryan obviously had his own ideas here as he allowed the overly hyper Davis to punch himself out, and then began an onslaught of bodywork and shots to the head that welted Davis’s right eye, and had his opponent reeling at nearly every exchange. Bryan put Davis into the corner near the midpoint of round 4, and Referee Mike England had seen enough. Bryan comes out victorious with a TKO in the 4th.
The fine people of Jefferson City, MO is one that I will not forget anytime soon. The venue was fantastic, and as I opened this piece with – my hopes are for more promotions in the future to showcase the talents of these fine men and women to and around the Jefferson City area.

After the intermission things once again got underway with one of the toughest ladies in all of Missouri – Liz Drew (ranked 14th in the United States at Lightweight) who made good on her promise of an early knockout by absolutely destroying last minute replacement Jasmine Davis – at 1:03 of the 1st round. Drew now goes to 10-8 with 3KO’s while Davis now drops to 1-4.
After Stodden’s TKO upset over Ekstam stymied the crowd – it was time for the main event of the evening. Jesse Bryan coming off a disappointing defeat at the hand of Mike Woods this past September for the NAMA Light Heavyweight Championship was looking for a little redemption. It came in the name of Donnie Davis. Davis started out fast – clubbing Bryan to a point that the crowd became concerned over Bryan’s would-be inactivity. Bryan obviously had his own ideas here as he allowed the overly hyper Davis to punch himself out, and then began an onslaught of bodywork and shots to the head that welted Davis’s right eye, and had his opponent reeling at nearly every exchange. Bryan put Davis into the corner near the midpoint of round 4, and Referee Mike England had seen enough. Bryan comes out victorious with a TKO in the 4th.
The fine people of Jefferson City, MO is one that I will not forget anytime soon. The venue was fantastic, and as I opened this piece with – my hopes are for more promotions in the future to showcase the talents of these fine men and women to and around the Jefferson City area.

As eager fight fans filed into The Family Arena in St. Charles last Thursday evening, there was the usual buzz of anticipation that accompanies a pro fight card presented on a grand stage. But even the most seasoned spectators of the sport were standing as the undercard unfolded, producing six technical knockouts in as many bouts.
The night was capped off by a main event that was a brutal battle of attrition between two rugged customers brawling for a championship belt. Some of St. Louis’ best boxers were in attendance, including young guns Lamar Harris, Danny Williams, Jamal Parram, DeAndre Latimore, and Chris Sharp, as well as former world champion William Guthrie.
Local pro Steve Vincent looked solid in his match against Jefferson City’s John Slicker. From the fading of the opening bell’s clang, Vincent was looking to time his shorter opponent on the way in with a sharp left hook in an effort to land that home run blow. With William Guthrie yelling encouragement from ringside, Vincent went to work with 1,2’s punctuated with double right hooks to the body and head.
Slicker maintained a resolute stare between rounds, even after being floored in the third round with a stern jab. By the fourth, Slicker was pawing at his bleeding nose as Vincent continued to toss urgent lead left hooks. Vincent began the sixth and final round at a frenzied pace, looking to close the show. A 1,2, hook combination buckled Slicker’s back leg near Vincent’s hostile blue corner. Slicker would fall twice more, the second time as a result of a jab followed by a hacking right hook to the ribs. The referee mercifully intervened for the TKO stoppage.
The ring entrances for the sixth fight of the night couldn’t have been more different. Nebraska’s Tyler “The Working Man” Hughes made his ring walk wearing a cowboy hat as the twang of a country music tune poured from the arena’s speakers. His counterpart, St. Louis’ Sam “The Punching Policeman” Hill, made the trip as a song by Lil’ Jon & The Eastside Boyz rumbled through the rafters.
After a cautious start, Hill settled into a rhythm with his jab, looking to block or elude Hughes’ awkward, clubbing shots. Hughes appeared to steal round two with a flurry at the end, but Hill responded with a punishing body attack in the next stanza that turned his foe’s midsection pink.
The TKO ending came at 2:39 of the third round when Hill landed a right hook to the ear that dropped Hughes to one knee.
The main event between St. Charles’ Mike Wood and Jesse Bryan from Jefferson City for the North American Midwest Association’s light heavyweight title turned into a shining example of how compelling the sport can be. The determined duo traded hurtful combinations for eight exciting rounds, each refusing to back down from the challenge.
Wood was first with his jab early, adding right uppercuts when the fight went inside. Bryan found success with his right hook at the outset, rattling Wood’s teeth and refusing to give way. After each busy round, Wood raised his gloves skyward as the crowd sprang from their chairs and cheered.

Wood emerged with a majority decision victory, and the crowd rose for a standing ovation as the title belt was wrapped around the new champion’s waist. The list of winners included not only those in the ring, but the fans who were treated to some of the best action of the year.

Well I think that is great that Joe just won a tough fight against Gary. I personaly have bigger fish to fry but I am in negotiation with Rob Merritt and Joe's camp. They know what I'll fight there for and that's the offer. I will fight any body for the right offer no matter who they are and please no disrespect intended I just fought the man who ended Mike Tyson's career and I was doing great until I got cut above my eye. I dont have no worries of the Tough but limited Joe Stofle. I was just in with the top notch heavy hitting Kevin Mcbride. I am now looking at my title fight against Rob Calloway and that is all I can see however if Joe's people will come to the table right like they should before July I wouldnt mind a stay busy fight like Joe Stofle.

Byron "The Bear" Polley -Guest Editorial
Byron "The Bear" Polley put his WBE (United States Heavy Weight Title) on the line against Joe Stoffle(of St.Charles,Mo) Friday night at the Ramada Rumble Chapter Two.
It was an all out brawl, Stoffle came out trying to knock Polleys head off. Every punch that Joe threw showed his intention of achieving a victory by knockout.
Polley started to counter well on Stoffle in the second round.
The third round belonged to Joe, he had Polley on the move on several occasions.
Polley's trainer Earl Walker had an effective counseling session with Polley in the corner. Polley then owned the Fourth round by backing Stoffle into the corner. Polley then landed several unanswered punches leading to a Fourth Round Tko.

The truth shall set you free. The truth is Byron Polley did not knock out Joe Stofle. Referree Danny campbell stopped this fight before anyone was hurt, keeping the WBE heavywieght title in St Joe's Missouri. So Danny Campbell is the WBE Heavywieght champ, he stole the title from stofle fair and square. I doubt Poley would ever agree to a rematch with Joe on account Joe thoroughly whooped his tail in St Joe on Sep.30. If he did it would be big mistake for Byron but at least the people would see the truth AGAIN... The ending to this Sep. 30 heavywieght title fight was disgracefull to the officiating profession and the Commissioner needs to see a video of this fight, then do the only right thing and order a rematch. Joe has never been knocked out and Byron didnt come close. Congratulations Mr Danny Campbell, you are recognized as the New WBE Heavywieght champ.--
Just to clarify a point. It does not matter if a person is actually unconscious or the fight is called as a Technical Knockout It still is counted as a Knockout on the boxers record.
A Technical Knockout can be called at the referee's discretion for any reason to ensure the boxers health.
While we may sometimes think that the call was bogus, we are not in the ring, Ref is.

Well first off, I'd like to say the editorial my girl friend wrote was not to down grade anyone. I think Joe Stofle is a class act totaly and a true down right tough guy. Joe know's what happened and so do I. I do think that the referree did a fine job I dont ever dream of seriously injuring any fighter. Well...it hsappened again last night, Joe Stofle gives the fans what they came for - a spectacular KO. This time it was Gary Dydell out of St. Joe's. That's Joe's 3rd straight KO since the Polley fight. I guess when Joe becomes a legit contender to the "prestigious" WBE belt, he'll get his rematch with Byron. Until then, the fans in St. Charles will have to "suffer through" watching Joe KO his opponents inside of 3 rounds. Give him another shot Byron.

Hinds battered Jackson around the ring for 5 rounds before finally knocking him down, and out, in the 6th. This was sweet vindication for Hinds who was looking for this result in their first fight. "It's a sweet victory for me as Jackson had never been down before, and I was able to give the fans what they wanted - a great fight".
Hinds goes to 3-3 with 2KO's while Jackson is now 11-13-1 with 6KO's.
Hinds seems to have found his niche at 140lbs, and when asked what his plans are, he stated that he is going to try and avenge his previous losses to Steve Vincent, Donovan Castaneda, and especially Jens "Lil' Evil" Pulver. "I'd like to rematch with all of those guys, but I'm really beginning to feel my power at 140lbs. We'll see".

Robbie Cannon from Horine Missouri will be fighting in his first professional fight on the 8th of Sept at the Family Arena in St. Charles as part of the "Lets Get it on- Championship Boxing Series" sponsored by Ameristar Casino and ESPN Radio.
During his 10 year span as an amateur Robbie has collected Gateway Classic as well as Golden Glove titles. Fighting at the 135 lbs. weight class, Robbie is definitely someone to watch for.
